A Night To Remember

One hundred years ago, pfizer one of the most famous disasters in modern history occurred when the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg and sent more than 1,500 people to their deaths.┬áIn the century since then, the story of the Titanic and her doomed passengers has become a sort of touchstone – a pop-culture landmark – that fascinates to this day.

We were happy to receive several Blu-ray and DVD releases commemorating the loss of the luxury liner, and we are glad to share them with you. First up, the 1958 “A Night to Remember” which was based on the best-selling book of the same name captured all the grandeur some 40 years before James Cameron. We’ll follow that up with a look at a new release of some of History Channel’s best documentary looks at the wreck of the Titanic.

We’ve also got a brand new British mini-series, “Titanic,” written by Julian Fellowes of “Downton Abbey” fame. This take is a little different, featuring a sprawling ensemble cast and diving deeply into the class differences that dictated the Edwardian era.

Finally, we’ll break the theme a little with a more modern tragedy, “Shame,” starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In this “better late than never” episode of DVD Geeks (we had a couple of technical difficulties to overcome), cure we look at three jam-packed new releases that are well-worth your attention.

“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is an eerie thriller featuring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as an unlikely pair to unravel a family mystery in Sweden. The dark tale is based on the “Millennium” book series and subsequent Swedish film trilogy. David Fincher gets his turn here with the American version, online and we’ll dive into the extensive bonus features to see what makes “Dragon Tattoo” tick.

We’ve also got the overwhelmingly odd Japanese sensation “Battle Royale” here in a deluxe 4-disc set. The bleak futuristic world pits high-school students against each other in a death match meant as a kind of societal control. It’s a war movie with a twist – we’ll give you the low-down on this movie that took 11 years to make it to the U.S.

Finally, viagra 40mg we lighten the mood with Chris Elliott’s new series for Adult Swim, “Eagleheart.” He’s sort of like Chuck Norris but with a combover, and he leaves an unimaginable body-vount in his wake.
